Review: Changeless by Gail Carriger

‘Alexia Maccon, the Lady Woolsey, awakens in the wee hours of the mid-afternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. So I was going to finish this book and get around to reading books that I have on loan from the library and return to series at my first available opportunity. No such luck, this one ends on such a cliffhanger that I immediately started the next in this series, Blameless. I am confused as to why this series holds my interest so much as I hate werewolves and vampires. Probably, because this author does the supernatural tastefully and mixes one of my favorite eras (Victorian) to make this book a fabulous read. Alexia’s character is smart and oh-so-sassy. I can’t help but love these books and I simply cannot put them down. Please do not read any more of this review if you want to avoid spoilers.

In this continuation of the Parasol Protectorate series, Alexia finds herself in Scotland dealing with her husband’s old pack. She learns a lot about her husband’s past, his family and just who he is in general. Alexia, of course, finds herself in the midst of a supernatural fiasco and she must resolve everything before it all hits the fan. Of course, no matter what she does, she seems to find herself right in the middle of trouble. With the Scottish pack hating her and her husband and a French inventor of whom she doesn’t know if she can trust, she has a lot to contend with. Not to mention someone keeps trying to poison her and prevent her from saving the day.

Like I stated before this book ends leaving the reader dying to know what happens next, so it was impossible to not pick up the next book in this series. I love this series because it is fun, the characters are engaging and there is something always going on. I highly recommend this series and I simply cannot get enough. Carriger has a fantastic way of creating a different world through her writing and she simply is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
